Gareth
Green

Gareth Green is a
transfer pricing consultant based in the United Kingdom, practising
through his company,
Transfer Pricing Solutions Ltd.
He has extensive experience in transfer pricing,
having worked
virtually full-time in this area since 1995,
primarily with Ernst &
Young in the UK, but prior to that with Coopers
& Lybrand in the
United States and New Zealand.
Commencing his career as an auditor with Coopers
& Lybrand in
London in 1985, Gareth switched to tax in 1989 and
has worked in tax
ever since. He transferred to C&L
Auckland in New Zealand in
1992. Designated as C&L Auckland's
transfer pricing expert in
1995, he spent most of 1996 on temporary transfer
to C&L Boston, to
learn about transfer pricing. When the UK
introduced 'real'
transfer pricing rules in 1998, Gareth returned
home to the UK to join
Ernst & Young London's transfer pricing group.
Before resigning to found TPS in January 2003,
Gareth was a Director in
Ernst & Young's London transfer pricing group,
a position under
which he had full partner-level powers to give
opinions on behalf of
the firm. He has
experience in all transfer pricing matters,
including documenting
compliance with the arm's length principle,
designing transfer pricing
systems to achieve clients' tax and other
objectives, and negotiations
with tax authorities. He has particular
expertise in relation to
thin capitalisation.
Gareth has authored many articles for a number of
tax publications
(many available to download here).
He is
Technical Editor for BNA's Transfer Pricing Manual
(published in mid-2008) and has authored a
comprehensive update of the
part of the transfer pricing and thin
capitalisation
section of Simon's
Direct Tax Service, a UK loose-leaf reference
work. He wrote the UK
chapter of Kluwer's Guide to International
Transfer Pricing (published
in 2010) and a chapter of UK Transfer Pricing,
published by LexisNexis
in 2012.
Since 1999, he has
been a regular feature of the list of the World's
Leading Transfer Pricing
Advisers in the bi-annual surveys by Legal Media
Group / International Tax
Review. In 2011, he was one of the UK Reporters at
the IFA Congress, on the topic of Business
Restructuring. In July 2013, Acquisition International
magazine awarded TPS Results Driven Transfer
Pricing Firm of the Year for the UK. See page
14 of the Awards Supplement.
